A day trip to two of the most popular places near Yerevan. We start at Lake Sevan, Armenia's largest lake, at about 1,900 m, and climb to Sevanavank Monastery, founded in 874 by Princess Mariam. It once stood on an island, which became a peninsula when the lake level was lowered by about 20 m in Soviet times. Then we head to the mountain resort of Tsaghkadzor and the 11th–13th-century Kecharis Monastery, whose main church was built in 1013. In Tsaghkadzor you can ride the ropeway for a view over the town and the surrounding mountains. Meals are not included.
